Qualification Criteria

  • CEO & founder is black, asian or minority ethnic (BAME)
  • Own at least 75% equity
  • Non-technical founder
  • Have not yet raised a series A or completed a preferred round
  • Less than $1m in ARR
  • In business for at least 3 months and not more than 3 years
  • Building a scalable product or service with a significant total addressable market and defensible growth model
  • SaaS business model
  • Based in North America or the UK
  • Valuation < $3,000,000

About BAME Funding

  • This initiative helps provide access to funding for black, asian and minority ethnic (BAME) startup founders.
  • We believe all founders, regardless of their race or ethnicity, deserve the opportunity to succeed.
  • Startups accepted into this fund may also apply for our general startup development fund in which we invest up to €250,000 in cash and product development services in exchange for equity.
  • We believe investing in BAME startup founders is a way to create lasting and impactful social change.
  • This is a direct cash investment program in exchange for equity or a SAFE note.

  • Help with a short video and written testimony so we can also bring more awareness to your business.

  • If we want technology to work for everyone, it needs to be built by everyone.
  • Underrepresented founder groups lack access to all the same networks and capital needed to grow their businesses.
  • In 2022, Black founders received only 1% of total US venture capital (VC) funding, and Latino founders received only 1.5%.
  • Women-founded teams received only 1.9% of VC funds.
  • Only 0.1% of VC funds went to Black and Latino women founders.
